Mark has just returned from two one month long trips to Helmand Province, where he worked with troops on the frontline. He has made new film and photographic works commissioned by firstsite Colchester and 16 Air Assault Brigade, in association with Imperial War Museum.

'Deeds Not Words', Mark's new photobook, has been disseminated uniquely to every local council in the UK, and to environmental agencies worldwide. The book contains new images by the artist which explore the Scottish character of the English town of Corby, plus groundbreaking text and scientific information about a concluded court case concerning toxic waste and land reclamation .
The book aims to influence current UK policy on land reclamation, and is unavailable commercially.

'The World We Live In' ,10 September - 5 November ,Turnpike Gallery, Leigh
Specially selected from the Arts Council Collection, this exhibition celebrates 40 years of the Turnpike Gallery. Paintings, sculpture, photography and video by 24 artists have been brought together because they tell us something about living in a place like Leigh: from images of urban architecture and industrial landscape, to the imaginative humour within every day life.
